PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Dear Colleagues, WGO Training Centers MapIt is a great honor and pleasure to write as President of Pakistan Society of Gastroenterology & GI Endoscopy, a member society of World Gastroenterology Organization and Asia Pacific Society of Gastroenterology. I shall take the opportunity to thank all the past Presidents for their untiring and selfless efforts to bring PSG to the level where its contributions to promote gastroenterology practices are appreciated globally. I shall also appreciate the commitment and loyalty of the members towards the society and through their regular contributions, they made it one of the most dynamic and vibrant professional body in the country. Our members have always played an active role in the elections by choosing the able Executive Committee members, and have always participated actively in monothematic and annual meetings, endorsement of loco-regional academic activities, and participation in clinician-scientist training programs world-wide. My aim is to follow the lead of all the eminent and respected past presidents of the society and lead the society from front to improve the medical education, set new standards of GI and Endoscopy practices. During my presidency, I have be working on following important issues: I also want to congratulate the newly elected Executive committee and I hope with their help we will be able to achieve the goals. This will help to raise our position as the National guardian of digestive health. However, this cannot be done without the commitment, support and confidence of all of you.
  • Improve the membership, in particular amongst the young fellows.
  • Add Nurses, PG students and GI tech forum as associate members.
  • Add an international members forum.
  • Add GB and AJK members forum.
  • Actively engaging the PSG members to conduct educational activities in collaboration with local academia.
  • Organize targeted and smart topical and procedural workshops according to a set calendar.
  • Encourage PSG members to serve in educational committees so that to have more impact nationally and Internationally.
  • Increase efforts toward growing our membership throughout Pakistan as well as in other parts of the world.
  • Drafting of National Guidelines and position statements on topics of major importance with the consensus of PSG executive council and its members.
  • Make collaborative efforts with other Local forums like CPSP, UHS, DDF and International societies like AGA, BSG, ESGE and APDWE to promote research culture in Pakistan.
I also want to congratulate the newly elected Executive committee and I hope with their help we will be able to achieve the goals. This will help to raise our position as the National guardian of digestive health. However, this cannot be done without the commitment, support and confidence of all of you. I sincerely thank our members for your support to PSGPSK and do hope that you will extend further input to co-promote our activities. Any success that PSGPAK may achieve has to come through the joint efforts of those who have come before me and who will join me over the next two years in service.
